Hawaii Immersion - December 2024

Remembering on old way of living...

There are over 50,000 axis deer on the island of Molokai and around 7,000 humans. The majestic animals are in huge herds, which means there are dozens of pairs of eyes looking for movement from predators like us. The axis deer hunting in Hawaii is a combination of ambushing AND spotting/stalking when there is no available shot.

Join this hunt to connect with the process of killing an animal to eat. Connect with your primal self and a brotherhood of likeminded men. We will start by learning and participating in traditional Hawaiian cultural practices and enjoy a medicine journey before and after the hunting.

Honoring Hawaiian culture

Hawaii is one of the few places in the United States that still has strong ties to their cultural roots. Molokai is one of the islands that has slowed commercial progress for the purpose of maintaining that culture. This Molokai axis deer hunt is about more than that. It's about understanding and connecting to the culture of Hawaii.

In order to hunt Hawaii the most ethical way possible, we organize an entire day of cultural sites with native Hawaiians to provide introspection and personal growth. If you are just looking for big axis deer buck hunting in Hawaii, this is NOT the experience for you.

For those who want to hunt in Hawaii like the indigenous have for hundreds of years and like your ancestors did wherever you're from, then this is the cultural experience for you.

FAQs - Hunting Hawaii

Our guide will flash freeze the meat and can ship us coolers from Hawaii via FedEx. It will cost about $70, but that's a small price to pay to not have to carry that around with you. The only catch is that each person will need to bring a cooler for shipping. Molokai is too small an island and likely will not have any (much less 6) coolers for sale. You can likely put food/snacks in the cooler, check it in, and come back without one so it's not a huge commitment.

Weapons can be easily transported to Hawaii using a TSA case. These are not expensive and are generally better gun cases than existing ones. Alternatively, you can use a TSA lock on your existing case, which would be a more affordable/simpler option.

Any participant is free to choose, but we highly recommend beginners start with a rifle. It is both easier to have the 0 to 1 experience of taking a life and it is also more ethical to have a quick, clean kill for the sake of the animal.

Each participant must meet physical and skill requirements to participate. If you join a hunt and cannot prove your capabilities (via our requirements), you will not be allowed to hunt and will not receive a refund. This can be mitigated by sharing your skill level with us on your Exploratory Call and we will ensure that we match you to an experience that is suited to your level.

They take it somewhat seriously, but it isn't overly problematic. They require a negative COVID test 72 hours before arrival and a bit of other paperwork (where you're staying, etc etc). This is all stuff that I will coordinate. However, be mindful that if you are planning to go to other islands while you are there, there will be more paperwork/legwork.

Yes, you may receive a refund if a replacement is found > 60 days before the event.

You may roll over to a new date for a fee of $500 between 60 and 30 days before the event.

You may roll over to a new date for a fee of $1600 within 30 days of the event (at the discretion of leadership).

We always try to entertain kind and creative solutions that will work for everyone.

Given there are only 4 spots per Elk Hunting event and many people prepare for months in advance, it is challenging to refill empty spots. This is why our policy is strictly enforced with kind exceptions.

Please be as sure of your commitment as possible beforehand.

Yes and no. Yes in the sense that they could be somewhat uncomfortably squeezed in on the island, but there is not a lot of added space (either with the hunting group or on the island as a whole). The island is not like the others. It has little for tourists and little to no development.

If significant others would like to come to the Hawaiian islands, I would suggest they spend time on another island where you can meet afterward (Kauai or Oahu).

Very rarely, an attendee that does not exhibit community-oriented behavior may be asked to leave/not attend an experience. This may be due to mental health concerns, violence, aggression or any behavior that may be a harm to other participants. This decision is at the discretion of staff members (and requires every staff member to agree to ensure it is a valid concern). Repayment or refunds will be handled on a case-by-case basis, but often not offered.
